Garden Lizard (best viewed large)

Garden Lizard (best viewed large) by Pandiyan.
Males during breeding season show a black patch under their neck. Bright colors wear off after a while. Breeding males show a red coloration which lead to this harmless lizard being mistakenly called 'bloodsucker'

Scientific name: Calotes versicolor

Camera used: Panasonic FZ5

entropy - I liked your water dragon.

yep, brought up in Bangalore India, used to catch these as a kid. They are truly harmless creatures.. poor things! the locals would kill these all the time thinking they were poisonous.

Very nice how you've captured the textures of the scales and that splintery tree, and how the light brings out the diamond pattern so clearly. Was this taken in the morning?
