A Whole Lotta Pink
![]() To add to the Pink Theme today, I have added a digitally enhanced photo of my favorite bird, the Roseate Spoonbill taken at Ding Darling NWR. For those who have known me, the spoonbill has been my nemises bird and it was not until my 40th birthday that I photographed my first one in the wild. Now, I seem to be running into them such as during this trip to Sanibel a few weeks ago. Thanks to Geoff Coe who gave me a tip as to the place and time that I could see them, I spent nearly an hour shooting them in flight. This particular pink one flew towards my backside and ended up backlit. Since I was shooting for front lit spoons it was underexposed. In the old days, I'd chuck the slide or delete it. But thanks to the digtial dark room, one can transform a trash heap image into digital art. Here I boosted the shadow detail in the bird. I created the ocean with flaming pear, and then added layers of pink grads to get you a whole lotta pink. I acid washed the edges and here it is folks.
