Homemade popcorn is Good Eats

peanut oil and sea salt.
Homemade popcorn is Good Eats by jslander.
When I got home from a little shopping, it seemed as though Christian had done a little shopping himself. After watching a "Good Eats" episode on popcorn, Christian decided to go out and purchase everything we needed to make our own batch. We actually popped the popcorn in this bowl. With just peanut oil and sea salt. WOW. GOOD. No need for a microwave anymore.

BEST popcorn Ever! Made up the recipe the other day :)

Get some vegetable oil (doesn't really matter what kind, we use canola cuz it's what's available and healthy-ish over here), about two or three tablespoons. Grab a handful of garlic cloves, peel them if you want, and if they are really fat, slice them in half lengthwise. Turn the flame on medium, toss in the garlic and some red chili flakes to taste (if you pinches for the light of heart), throw in the popcorn (maybe 3 T?).... and pop! when it's done, sprinkle with salt and pepper. The garlic gets a little crispy and oil gets infused with the red chili peppers while it heats up and waits for the corn to pop.

I refuse to eat microwave popcorn. I only pop the corn myself and use real butter. It's SO worth it...YUM! Looks like I'm going to have to hunt down the good Eats show on popcorn...peanut oil and sea salt sounds awesome.
