pretty lat/long

tiding us over until the main event

it was nearly 6, we had worked out but didn't eat lunch. stupid combination. and, of course, i was dehydrated and hardly functioning. not the best way for me to head to a party and attempt to be social. so, while we got tortillas for our korean bbq tacos, i simply had to get a pupusa just to make it to the party.

so, i walked up to the carts (several stuck together with umbrellas and an assortment of jugos) and stood there like a stupid english-speaker, hoping someone would help me out. luckily, the younger boy did and i successfully pointed to what i wanted.

i desperately wanted to take pictures, but i assume they already thought i was a narc, so, that was out of the question until we got to the car.

while the filling wasn't that great (minced chicken sitting in the sun...eek), the masa/tortilla part was AMAZING.

later it wouldn't matter because on the way back from the BBQ, we spilled Vietnamese fish sauce in the trunk. our poor Prius will never be the same.

neely's, you win

i was prepared to be disappointed by the neely's bbq (celebrity BBQ hawker/food network personalities generally win no points with me....)....but they win. this was awesome. and, the ribs weren't sticky or super-sweet, and had me rethinking my fatwah on meat on the bone covered in sauce (chicken wings, bbq-smothered ribs, etc.). and thanks to brianna for preparing them!
