South end of The High Line

South end of The High Line

The High Line is a great example of how an old industrial relic can be remodeled into something great for the modern world. An abandoned elevated railroad line was transformed into a park. Stretching from Gansevoort Street to 30th Street, it mostly parallels 10th Avenue on the lower west side of Manhattan.

Here's the view from the south end at Gansevoort Street. We're headed up those stairs and headed for the north end.

This end of The High Line overlooks the meat packing district. The lush vegetation and elevation almost makes it seem that you're in an oasis floating above gritty NYC below.
