1808_3494 A Bear's Info Highway

A bear's information highway is the breeze, of course. Here a Black Bear at her favourite fishin' hole checks with her nose for an unwelcome surprise in the form of another bear. Fishing is hard work and serious business and she has claimed the best location. The puny photographers on the other side aren't going to be a problem, but another bear could be. Just another moment in a day in the life of the World's Coolest Bear.

There's an old story that perfectly illustrates the primary sensory apparatus of three wild inhabitants of the forest. It goes like this. A pine needle fell in the forest. The eagle saw it falling; the deer heard it falling; and the bear smelled it falling. I think that sums things up nicely.
