Another kind of panorama of construction on Fulton Street.

Another kind of panorama of construction on Fulton Street. by p0ps Harlow.
This pano is in response to cam B's pano. Like his, this is hand-made in Photoshop from angled shots.

cam B, here's an answer to your question about how I usually make mine:

I started making panos by hand in Photoshop, like you did, except without the rotated camera. The first pano I uploaded here to Flickr was about 400 lo-rez hand-stitched images.

I then began using panorama stitching software, Calico, it's low cost and very capable, I like it and recommend it for Mac OSX.

My friend, Reid gets similar results, i.e. this pano, by using a free, online pano stitcher in Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Generally, what I think is different and interesting about my panos is that I include the parts of the view that are close-up, like in this one. That creates quite a bit of distortion and "broken" stitches, which I like quite a bit.

David Hockney doesn't have photostreams...he's got books. But there's a group called 'Hockneyesque' based off of his work with photography and painting. Definitely should get your hands on some of it. Gordon Matta Clarke also did some interesting panos for his Fake Estates project.

Also liking the new stitch!!!

@MC Hammerheadshark - I'm glad to have Hockney referenced again and props for referencing Gordon Matta Clarke, but my joke with billikid was meant to suggest that if all the people we learned about in art school aren't on Flickr or other widely used social media, they are invisible. Like most jokes, it contains a grain of truth, but is not to be taken literal. the stupid smiley face was suppose to communicate that. The grain of truth is that, I think David Hockney and other living artists should join us on Flickr.

Your NY panos has become a signature of the times ...
• there's more teaching going on here at this pano school than at any art schools ?
• david hockney probably cant use a computer?

@Jerry, ah, but he can paint the sweetest swimming pool watercolors....

but, speaking of panos, yours are done in Photoshop only, right? Like all you work, they are totally awesome. Everybody should look hard at here , here, here, or here and all the fantastic color work in your stream.

I like the colour treatment in this. And the rotated camera is fun and works well.

Thanks for the "heres" Stephen ...

Mine's are stitiched and blended in Calico same as yours, I like the perspective handling, and the blending (exposure equalization) is better than PShop. I'm not good as you in picking the strategic POV to create the distortions ...
Its the second round cooking that I process them again in PShop -
whether its cross-process or texture layers or combination of both.

.. just found one that I've forgotten to upload !!

i should have seen the joke in that one. sarcasm is hard to spot without voice inflection.

i second you on wishing more living artists would join us on flickr. but then again, i think the great artists of the future are already on here...

there, you go. that's how I like to see it, too.

btw:
During the '70s, altho, I was in California, I felt akin to the Soho scene, which Matta-Clark was such a central figure.

His work in many medias has been influential on me. I never sliced a building, but, as a tribute to his work and memorial to him after his untimely and lamented death, I did a performance where, in a dark room, I chopped a large hole thru the ceiling and roof with a hatchet, leaving the audience in light and debris as I climbed up and out.

After that, my proposals for creating "painting" shows by cutting thru gallery walls did not find any sponsors.

I'm still up for that, if anyone's interested.
