Ground Control to Major Tom...This was David Bowie's first night (ever) in the United States. I am the one waving in the photo. David was great. He went to dinner with me, my brother and my parents. This photo was taken in my parent's living room in Silver Spring, MD. Later that night he came to my house and spent the evening. Incredible memories for me. David, if you flickr--hello again!

aaah?? you knew him? how did it happen?
we went to his concert this yr in Prague but he already didn't feel well and had to stop earlier, then in Germany he had to undergo bypass surgery. hope he is ok now.

You know...to this day I don't know what he was holding. After the photo was taken we went to dinner with David. Then we went back to my house
and spent the evening talking about a lot of things. Out of over 300 artists I interviewed--David stands out in the Top 10 in terms of attitude, manners and just being down to earth.

That's really cool. At first I somehow thought he was talking on a mobile phone, but quickly realized that's impossible. I grew up not far from Silver Spring (Chevy Chase) and never realized David Bowie's first night in the States was just up the road!

Magnificent photograph. My guess is that he's holding a cigarette, or it could be a card.
I always believed his eyes to be the same colour, but the pupils different in size which makes the one eye look brown.
Great fan of Bowie, love his music and he is quite sexy even now!
