2/100: Elizabeth

2/100: Elizabeth

Elizabeth, shown here with her dog Schmacko, is an art gallery owner in a small mountain town in Colorado. She paints mainly with watercolors - her illustrations are absolutely beautiful.

After having closed for a year due to financial issues, she has reopened her gallery and is now working when she wants and turning her business around - and she's thrilled. She told me, "Only do art for yourself - you're only going to make so much."

This was taken on film. My first roll of film ever, to be exact, so it was a little bit nerve-wracking. The roll didn't come out looking anything like my usual digital shots, probably due in part to a lack of confidence... but I like it all the same, and Elizabeth is a keeper, like her or no.

3/100: Sarita

3/100: Sarita

**For those of you who are confused as to why my Strangers went from 1-3, please note that 2 is on a roll of film which will be developed as soon as it is full.**

Sarita is a Nepalese Buddhist who moved to the US in 1980, but maintains contact with and sometimes visits her family at home. She owns a small shop which sells incense, sculptures, crystals and other similar supplies; this is where I met her today. She has one son who is in 5th grade. She also reads palms, a technique she learned from her father.

According to Sarita's interpretation of my palms, my future is looking pretty good! I have very intense vision and creativity. My path in life is not yet fully defined, but there will be something that I do throughout all of it. I will have one child by blood, though I will be extremely close to another one (who may be adopted, or just a protegee). Currently I am living in a place from which I want independence, but I will return to my parents later in life. Though my relationships seem shaky now, I will be able to make really long-lasting friendships and such as I age. There are a lot of angels in my life, but they will only come to me if I open my mind to them.

Sarita was very gracious and sweet, and frankly seemed happy to have the company. I bought a beautiful tiger's eye bracelet from her as thanks for her time. When I left, she called, "Good luck with your college decision!"
