Life on Mars

er dette gull?
Life on Mars by jcoterhals.
Funny how time flies! A new challenge is up on the Twitter Photo Challenge group. This time the topic is "kontraster" (contrasts).

As I've done a couple of times before, I've shot a photo just to get my mind going. For once, the photo is taken handheld in natural light without any special gizmos or anything. I used a 50mm lens with a fairly large aperture (f/2.0). Underexposed EV -1 1/3 deliberately.

What you see here is a fresh pine branch thrown on a pile of old, dry ones. I've been cutting down trees and shaping others lately, and this motive came as a result of that.

Great photo, the exposure is perfect and I love the background patterns.

Pent bilde.

benwmbc: Thanks Ben. The lens I use here is the Canon 50mm f/1.4. I can throw pretty much everything out of focus with that lens and that aperture. But the out of focus-areas get a very special look, almost patterned. I'm not sure whether I like that effect or not, but at least that's what you see here.

anii579: Thanks Anii. As I said above, the background is out of focus in a messy way I think -- but I'm glad you like it.
