I promise: This will be the last photo you'll see of my wedding ring for a while. But I'm still photographing the norwegian word "rundt" (= round/circular but also around). Why? Because the Flickr group "Twitter Photo Challenge" has "rundt" as the theme for this week's competition.

Anyway -- the photo's taken on my coffee table. I used the same 70-300 semi-macro zoom lens as yesterday. Flash placed 1,5 meters behind the ring, set to manual output 1/64, zoomed to 105mm. Camera set to 1/200 and f/20 (manual exposure) to ensure overexposure. Added an additional +EV 0,75 in Adobe Camera Raw to enhance the silhoutte and almost monochrome effect. In ACR I also desaturated a little bit, just to remove the last traces of color from the table top but not enough to remove what little color was left in the ring itself.

What's nice with flash is that the same subject can look like two different things. Compare this to yesterday's romantic wedding ring picture to see what I mean. Same ring, a very different story.
