are people in this world so bored with their lives, that THIS is somehow important to them? seriously, anyone that gives a rats ass about this, outside of employees from Microsoft/Yahoo or Google, might want to examine their lives and priorities.

Rob Kohr says:

The irony of this all:

Microsoft will become the biggest user of free software. Most of yahoo's products are built on:

PHP
Ruby
MySQL
....

and all run on linux.

When navigating around yahoo's assets, you are very unlikely to see aspx come up in the urls.

Actually yahoo runs on BSD. Doesn't change a thing, ANYTHING that is not m$ actually runs better. All the best 2.0 companies have cheap and efficient OSS: YouTube uses lighttpd, Apache and Linux, Wikipedia runs MySQL and Linux, and so on...

m$, stay the hell out of my flickr!

do you post here every recess period?

If M$ owns Yahoo, it can force them to abandon their free software for M$'s own products. If Yahoo's size matters at all, they will do it naturally to up their market share. Bad outlook.

Really? Probably because Micro$not isn't this good:

@frogspawn: Wow, that is pretty impressive (eye-candy, but still)! Really. Some ideas taken over from Mac OS X (such as the Dock, but maybe that has become a kind of GUI standard by now). Really nice! Very fluid. Some features appear to be unique such as grouping a set of windows and operating on them as a group.

For those not in the know (like me), what are:
– Git
– Compiz Fusion (formerly known as compcomm)
– beryl and compiz
?
I am posting this here and not over at YouTube because I'm not getting notified of comment replies on YouTube (and I don't really want to).

right, i'm sure their own software being FREE has nothing to do with it. serious, you need a shot of logic.

samstone says:

oh, lol. thats right, i'm a paid operative. you guys keep posting, so I can continue making my $10 per reply. I'm getting RICH. Thank you Microsoft.

Now, excuse me while I earn my Microsoft viral marketing check:

ososment - it serves NO purpose. If your computer's taskload is that bare, and allows you that much eye-candy... you might want to examine your need for a computer to start with. I know this will catch flak, but the truth is that a computer is a TOOL to aid us in our WORK. Short of playing a game, eye candy of that level has no practical use... unless your idea of a good time is browsing around in a file explorer window. Seriously, how pretty does a file explorer need to be? Answer: It doesn't.
