It is pure sugar with no additives, but for this particular sculputure the sugar has been through the machine a few times and we haven't been following proper food handling procedures with it. So imagine that you had a cookie, but you dropped it on the floor and it isn't quite clean anymore.... You shouldn't eat it, but Is it still food? Your call.
