Refrigerator magnets

Refrigerator magnets by oskay.
Believe it or not, these are all magnets. We rounded up a collection of good looking little candy packages and carefully pried them open, replaced the contents with strong magnets held in place by hot glue, and sealed them back up again. There are also a few larger magnets-- with much lager magnets inside-- for overkill.

Here's the sneaky (crafty?) part: Before sealing the little boxes back up again, we filled them with dried beans (pinto, if you must ask), weighted and distributed to approximate the original contents. The box of Sugar Babies is partially filled with loose beans and the box of raisins (which are generally less mobile) contains a larger number of dried beans held in place by hot glue.

The end result is that the boxes look, feel, and sound like brand new unopened packages. If they didn't stick to the fridge, you'd never know that there were magnets inside. The downside: Sooner or later, a guest at our house is going to be very surprised when they open one, hoping to find a snack.

Love the idea but have just 1 concern. Sometimes having dried beans "sitting" around in the open will draw weevils that can eventually infest your cupboards. From where--who knows?! Has to be somewhere evil--hence the name. We-Evils! Try placing a dried bay leaf (or partial for sizing) in the box before the final seal. Should keep the little pests away!
