Red Roofed Hut II

From a shoot a week ago. This Red Roofed Refuge is a popular subject of us Hafnfirðingar (people who live in Hafnarfjörður).

Here I lit up the foreground with a torch light but the hut was partially lit up also with light pollution coming from the city nearby.

ValaRun: Já, allnokkru sinnum hefur þetta hús komið fram á DPC og oftast með góðum árangri. Ég náði m.a. 3 sæti með þetta hús í haust.

I'm sure you get this a lot, but your shots are truely amazing. A question for you, of course, if your willing to let out your secret!

What were your camera settings for this kind of shot?? The shutter has to be open long enough to capture the aurora but at the same time, pick up the cabin light perfectly. You nailed it...but how?

That is a really spectacular piece of photography. The hut would have made for an interesting subject even in daylight. By night the aurora makes for a spectacular backdrop, while the hues in the sky and the light pollution add another dimension of surreal beauty, and the stars too. Add to it the excellent foreground lighting with the torch and that stark, unexpected red roof, and all that great texture on those boulders, and you have a stellar shot. Great composition, stunning use of natural and artificial light, I hope you're proud of this shot cos it's one I'd be well chuffed with- pure photographic and artistic excellence.
