Its a rare view of Aurora here in Iceland to have them silhouette pinetrees.
Actually these trees are not so far from my home, 5km or so. The orange glow is the city lights reflection from particles in the air.
The last couple of weeks have been quite active Aurora wise. Good work Sun, keep those particles coming.

Another stunning shot. I understood that we are currently in the low period for solar activity like this. Maybe it's about another 4 years in the 11 year cycle before we are back at the peak. if this is what you photograph now what are you going to get in a few years time?

Your stunning documentation of this electromagnetic, plasmatic painting led me to a picture of claret punch with sprigs of mint and a slice of lime that comes pretty close to the color scheme ~~ with the fabulous light as lime, the evergreens as mint, and the stars as sugar & spice. But your image also led me to a report claiming that leaks have been found in Earth's magnificent magnetosphere where all these glorious paintings are made on the wings of solar winds. So maybe we'll see much more of this artwork in the near future with artisans like you to display their beauty, like the time you stopped on the road for this extravaganza. These skywatchers look great on gray.

Orvar, twelve days ago I stumbled upon an exciting new tool that allows you to show, and others to view, Flickr images on black or gray in large or medium format. As a test I pasted the code here .. B l a c k M a g i c. Your "Skywatching Pinetrees" is magnificent on gray.
You can also view your entire photo stream (and those of contacts or anyone else) on gray by clicking 'More' in the upper left corner to access hivemind. That may be the most valuable part of the package. Since my discovery I've noticed thirteen people so far are linking Black Magic their images now. The creator Nathan Siemers (nosha) told me Flickr Hive Mind, which he also created, has been running more than a year. He said he plans to increase Black Magic's capacity tenfold soon.
