Bursting Aurora

The coldest night this winter was last friday. I was -20°C. But thank god there was no wind so it wasn´t as bad as it sounds.

Went out at around 23:30 to shot because I had guests earlier that evening. Shot some fairly active aurora at a nearby lake Kleifarvatn. When I came home I heard that there had been extremely active Aurora at around 22:30, putting the whole sky on fire for around 15 minutes. Now I am never having guests again hehe... except if you bring some beer.

30 seconds & f3.5 @ ISO 500.
Used lots of photoshop tweeks to bring out the details:
-Dodge&Burn on the foreground
-Curves and high radius sharpening on the Aurora plus increased saturation

I've only ever seen this on a return flight from the US to the UK but your picture brings it to life completely..

Instant fave as we say all to often..

Also love the way you have dodged and burned to get the maximum out of your work.. IMHO it's the whole point of digital photography..
