MY BOOK IS HERE!

MY BOOK IS HERE! by EricGjerde.
I received the advance copies of my book, Origami Tessellations: Awe-Inspiring Geometric Designs.

This is it! The finished book - I'm so happy with how it turned out! The cover is beautiful and the print quality is just fantastic. I'm so very very pleased with the work that my editor & designer, Jeff Rutzky, and my publishers A K Peters, Ltd. did on this book. I couldn't have asked for better help in making this book become a reality.

I'm looking forward to sharing this book with all of you - it is available for pre-order now from Amazon, B&N, and the usual suspects, as well as from AK Peters directly. It will be shipping sometime in mid-December.

Thanks to all of you for your help and support through this lengthy process!

A moment to remember forever - seeing your name on the front page of a book!!
Well, tessellations were the trigger to bring my creativity out, and without you and where you took this field of origami, I would never got that far..
So with all my heart – thank you, and congratulations!
And now I have to go – I need to pre-order my copy.

Wow, thanks everyone!

I'm so happy that it's done - this was a pretty challenging project for me, but a learning experience as well. I'm glad that I decided to push on and get it published after some initial setbacks with my original publisher.

And now all the book-related drama can come to a close, finally... and I can get back to the business of folding things :)

@Orihouse: I will have copies with me in Italy this december - so if you happen to be attending the CDO convention in Verbania I will have some there. otherwise I will have some signed copies later in January which I can send out. More to come on that later on.

@Joel: it really has been a looooong time, but I think you'll be pleased with how your work is featured! the photographs are beautiful!

@alex_beber: I will be at the CDO convention, yes, and I will have a few special advance copies of the book with me for sale. I'm hoping to teach a few things from the book, and maybe something new as well.

@sopheava: There is indeed a need for a book release party, although I haven't figured out what I want to do for that yet. How many times in life do you get to throw such a party, though? So I feel it must be done :)

Much thanks for all the pre-orders, things like that always help to justify future book projects :)

@Bean: no worries, there are lots of pretty pictures and patterns so no folding is required or necessary, unless you are compelled to do so... it works pretty well as a full-color picture book on it's own, really. Quite good for Patternistas!

@origamigo: Mucho gracias por sus palabras elogiosas!

@Alessandro: wonderful! I was folding your Seppia model last night, actually, and I didn't do so well... I'm hoping you can teach me an easy model using circle-packing while we're at the convegno :)

Hi everyone - quick update:

Lots and lots of copies have been shipped out, it looks like Amazon shipped out all the books it pre-ordered from my publisher, and has now asked for more copies. Thankfully my publisher has more copies to send them :)

My friend Ranjit met me for dinner tonight, and he brought along a copy that he purchased from the B&N store! It was in a bag and everything! That was totally surreal.

We went to the Union Square B&N here in NYC to see if there were more, but they were all out. I wanted to see it in a real store and take my photo with it :)

Hello, I am new here.
Several days ago, came across your tessellations.
Your works were so beautiful that I made my mind to learn origami.

I was very surprised to see a book with your name on while searching for an origami book. I am very lucky that I didn't have to wait for your book to be published!
As that was the only book I could find about origami tessellation, I am very thankful of you for writing that book.
I know that actually folding such figures will be very difficult, but I will try. I am waiting for the book to be delivered..... across the Pacific ocean to the place where I live.

Thank you again for writing this wonderful book.

Oh, your book is out of stock.
Amarzon says I have to wait till March. Sigh....
Instead, I've found a free pdf file that you wrote for OUSA 20007.
I think I should start with that.
Thanks for the pdf file.

Hi Gaulsan!

Well thanks for joining up, we're glad to have you here- welcome!

Amazon is currently out of stock, I believe they have more on order... which is why you're seeing the march timeframe. However, you can order from my publisher directly - it's in stock and shipping now:

http://www.akpeters.com/product.asp?ProdCode= 4513

I believe they do international shipping too, so you might consider this option instead of amazon if you want a copy more quickly :)

The little PDF is a good start, but it's pretty basic material; it's a small and very raw slice of the material that went into the book. (the basics/techniques section in the book is something like 28 pages, if I remember correctly.)

we look forward to seeing some tessellation work from you! good luck!

Thank you for the information.
I think I have to wait because I ordered it with other books.
Today, I baught some paper and started to fold.
Geeee... it's really difficult!
I will show you my first 'project' when it is done. =)

Hi Eric,

thanks for the link to your publisher. I have placed my order and look forward to getting my hands on your book but I expect it will take a while to get to Australia. I have wanted to get into tessilation for a while but as I have a background in origmaic architecture rather then origami I was finding that I lacked some basic understandings. Anyway I am hopeful your book will help. I will try to be patient!!

So I've canceled Amazon's order and ordered it from AK Peters.
By the way, AK Peters' books looks very professional. Hmmm....

and let me tell you my dear eric:
THIS is one of my 5 treasures of all my design/art/graphic books.
I'm already trying some of the beginners folds.
Thanks a lot for writing it, and please keep on doing it!

congrats!
