This is brilliant, the colour, the detail in the sand - texture and shadows, the overall composition and contrast between sand and sky. Well done.

Fabulous sand dune scene.
The sun is almost intrusive - did you think of cropping to that amazing sand dune?

Algo: I did indeed, but I thought that then the scene was lacking someting... I agree that the sun is intrusive, but I am pretty surprised on how little it is, knowing that I was facing it and that we're talking saudi sun

I can understand why this is a personal favourite. Exposure is perfect and so is the comp. Love the warm yellow and cool blue contrast(Altho I am sure it can hardly be called cool). To top it you have great textures. Paw marks?? are a lovely add.

Sun touches very nicely the sand. Great tones + very beautiful. Too much blue sky though, but impossible to crop, i like the sun included.

The colours are nice in this but the white sun really makes it.

The shadow along the ridge is great. Agree with #2 that it needs more space on the left.

Grat picture, like the pawprints. It looks almost like a giant lizard crawling over a cliff! The lens flare spoils it a little - can you clone this out? Perhaps a slightly wider crop on the left would improve a little.

Thanks to all 100 Points group voters.

@Mark Maclean : the pawprints are probably those of a lizard. They are quite common here.

MJ Mac [deleted] says:

Hi Orange. When I was referring to the lizard, I was talking about the spine of the sand dune which I think looks like a giant lizard's back. It never occurred to me that the paw prints may be from a lizard. :-)

Well, there is one specy of lizard here in the desert that are big enough to make this kind of prints. Not sure though

hey orangesmell,

I loved some of your photos and, under the Common License, would like to use it on a short piece (non commercial) for a documentary that i am filming on the World Food Crisis.

Is it OK? How would you like your name to appear?

thanx,
tg
