Needles eye in Mono

Needles eye in Mono

Another view of the "Needle's Eye" rock structure taken on the same day as my previous shot. I have had a bash at this in B&W and think it works quite well. The information below is from the macunlimited.com web site.

The Needle's Eye structure is made of metamorphic rock of Cambrian age. These rocks were originally sediments deposited in an ocean in the region of 600 million years ago and one interesting feature of them is that despite their long geological history you can still see relicts of some of the original sedimentary structures in them.

Needle's Eye Tarlair

Needle's Eye Tarlair

HDR attempt at a local geological feature close to the former outdoor swimming pool near Macduff. I remember, as a youngster, when a young lad got stuck climbing to the top of this structure and had to be winched off as it was to dangerous to put other people up the rock. Quite impressive seeing the rescue chopper hovering over the top! The following information is from the "macunlimited.net" website.

Local Hero

Local Hero

Visited Pennan with my wife as we had the day to ourselves after the children had abandoned us!
Best day we have had for ages. This was one of the locations used in the 1983 film "Local Hero".
To this day tourists from all over the world visit the coastal village to have their photo taken in the red phone box, an integral part of the story line!

Berry Nice

Berry Nice

Sorry folks, don't know what kind of tree this is or the types of berry it produces but they cried out to be photographed so I obliged. Any positive ID's would be welcome.
