Calopteryx aequabilis Jewelwing Damselfly - Smith Rock, Oregon

Spent the weekend in eastern Oregon scrambling around the giant rhyolite spires of Smith Rock. This beautiful (and still somewhat teneral) Calopteryx aequabilis female was a definite highlight!

If you're interested in this wide-angle macro technique and would like to learn how to take them in the field, consider joining Alex Wild, Nicky Bay, John Abbott and myself in Belize this August. If spending 8 days in the jungles of Belize hunting for crazy insects/spiders sounds like your idea of a good time, more info can be found here: sgmacro.blogspot.com/2015/02/macro-photography-workshop-b... or sign up here: www.eventbrite.com/e/bugshot-belize-2015-tickets-15981376...
