Creation. Saline Mayette, Haiti.

Creation. Saline Mayette, Haiti.

I recently returned from northwest Haiti, where I worked with an aid organization that provides educational opportunities, medical care, and meals to young and old through the country. While there I got to spend lots of time with children at an orphanage in Saline Mayette. Here's a little one creating art from a paper plate and some stickers we provided her. More images to come!

Amour Obscur. East Village, NYC.

Amour Obscur. East Village, NYC.

I stumbled upon this lovely band while walking through my neighborhood this afternoon...St. Marks Place, to be specific. After listening and shooting for awhile, I captured this photo that seems to depict their respective personalities quite nicely. If you'd like to hear their music, go to amourobscur.com. Thanks for viewing my work!

the blues.

the blues.

i shot this photo last night while exploring my new york city home with my new nikon d700. it struck me that the sky at dusk almost perfectly matched this residential tower. being surrounded by buildings at every turn, i find myself regularly longing for unobstructed views of the open sky. occasionally, though, a scene like this one makes me appreciate God and man's handiwork in tandem.

summer richardson. lexington, ky.

another great image from the wedding. we shot this one at the very end of the night just before summer and her new husband left for the hotel. it was SO great to shoot a couple who was willing and wanting to push the envelope, stylistically speaking. we liked the way this turned out a lot.

lighting info: one alien bees b1600 on 1/32 power into a 5' umbrella almost directly above her.

summer richardson. lexington, ky.

this is summer richardson, a beautiful bride i had the pleasure to shoot just a few hours ago. after the wedding, she, her new husband (reese) and i snuck over to an adjacent garden to capture some quiet moments amidst the reception festivities unfolding a few feet away. i was particularly pleased with this image. hope you are, too!

on a somewhat related note (not to be my own buzzkill), i'm infinitely frustrated with the way flickr washes out colors after my images are uploaded. this photo looks nothing like it does on my monitor when opened in photoshop! anyone know how to alleviate that problem?

lastly, i used one light for this photo, an sb-600 at 1/2 power into an umbrella at 45 degrees camera right. i used the late afternoon sun for a little natural rim light.
