Sugarcane Juice - Madurai

Walking around the Meenakshi temple ....

With Poongal festival (15 Jan) all families have sugarcane at home to cut it in pieces and give it to the guests passing at their home. You need strong teeth to bite a piece of it, you chew on it and afterwards you spit the pulp out.
Those who are not so lucky with their theet, they can always taste this sweat juice pressed with this heavy tool, mixed with a bit of lemon at all the sugarcane-stalls on the street.

Who can resist his inviting smile ?
