The two most common burdocks that grow in Ontario are both from Europe. On the left is Common Burdock (Arctium minus ssp minus), and on the right is Great Burdock (Arctium lappa).
Magestic plants, and the A. lappa is used
extensively as a herbal remedy over here. I
dig up the root in September or October....no
mean undertaking, and dry it.
I love the intensity of the green
contrasting with the deep purple in these
photographs. :~)
