Algonquin Beaver Pond

Algonquin Beaver Pond

so, I was in Algonquin but the weather was decidedly grey. I can't stop myself fro trying to capture the beauty of the place so I take some bracketed shots thinking I'll make my first attempt at HDR.... Which I did. This is the result. I learned some stuff - which is probably the biggest gift. I know now how I could do it better if I chose to do this again. And on the long drive home I did some soul searching about the process of HDR. Most of what I see, I dislike. I think it's overdone. In fact, I think this picture is overdone - but it was and experiment and I'm learning. My soulsearching, however, lead me to the realization that using the technology at hand to make the the best photo possible it perfectly acceptable - to me, at least. I resolved this issue with myself by comparing HDR with using a flash. When using a flash you are using technology to fake out the lighting of the scene to achieve a better exposure - right? I don't think HDR is MUCH different. What is different is the extreme in which you can take it to. Like I said, I think this picture if overdone. It's just a study, and for that it worked. I learned a lot.
