A much-needed coffee break at the local Starbucks after a long work meeting. Just hung out for a little while and watched people. Didn't notice until I uploaded this pic that there's a protester walking across K Street in the background. (This Starbucks is across the street from McPherson Square.)

The US Park Service had set a noon deadline yesterday for an end to all sleeping/camping in the park by the Occupy protesters.

Expecting evictions, tons of press showed up along with quite a few supporters and lots of lookey-loos (I was home sick, so was watching events unfold from home.)

At some point, the Occupiers threw a tarp over General McPherson statue calling it the Tent of Dreams, which is what you see here. Not sure when McPherson got the Guy Fawkes mask, but there it is - and it makes the picture.

One of the last shots I saw on the live feed I was watching yesterday was of a parade of police walking around the bedraped statue. Based on their frowning, disapproving glares, I thought for sure the tarp would be taken down and arrests made - but nothing. McPherson Square looked like a big party, and the general still wore his tent of dreams today.

Caught the cold or whatever that's been making the rounds. My lungs itch and I don't feel like shooting anything other than the couple aspirin I took.

I'm particularly bummed because the Park Service had given the Occupiers until noon to comply with the 'don't camp here' edict. I watched on live stream - nothing happened except they put a 'tent of dreams' over General McPherson and had a party. I'm guessing tonight might be a different story.

Next few days should prove interesting and I'm hoping the Zicam I've been taking works its magic in making this cold a short one.
