wow, what a beautiful bird - and an
outstanding photograph.
I had a friend who worked in a pet store
for a long time (he eventually became a
manager) and he used his employee discount
just about every paycheck. It was like going
into a zoo when you visited his house.

Thanks you guys! This bird twisted and
turned like he was a movie star. It was
really funny, because he turned to profile
and froze until I'd taken the shot! :D

Gorgeous shot and bird!
I am sure this is not a baby it appears to
have its adult plumage already and the lower
beak has gone black as males in most of the
subspecies do.
Here is Moo Stasha when about 6 months old
with no hint of pink on throat and very dull
juvenile plumage.

Here she is at 20 months with the pink
feathers emerging on chest, blue feathers
emerging on the head. Her black markings are
more defined. Her upper and lower beak turned
black around a year old.

Nybird, I don't know how old he is, but the
girls told me he was still very young. I
thought he was just boarding there, but they
said, no... he was a young bird that had
never had an owner.

MAGNIFICIENT register.
They are great whistlers; dont talk much.
Great bitters.
Our "Maia" has not come home to
roost for 5 days now; he must be dead. It is
way too cold for him to be out like this.
Well, que sera sera.
He was a great talker for a small, small
parrottlet that he is.
Oscar Romulus is doing fine. She has not
left home much this winter. She
"Hoots" now like an owl. I'd become
most unhappy if something like this happed to
our BELOVED Oscar.

Well he is a lovely bird and exactly what I
expect Moo-Stasha to look like by the end
of April(2 years old)...her pink area is
growing but nowhere as much as this bird.
She is a great talker and likes to brag...its
not good enough for her to say "I'm a
pretty birdieeeee" She often repeats
the word pretty up to 8 times LOL

Maybe this guy is a little bit of a different
kind. He sure handled like a very young bird
and was totally pliable and sweet. He
trusted completely. I don't know much about
these guys, except I was told they have to be
handled and socialized quite a lot to stay
sweet.

I find in several species(green cheeks
especially)that the males stay easier to
handle in general...Moo Stasha can be moody
but is usually very nice.
There are about 8 sub species with slight
differences...one of my pairs was one of the
subspecies where the male and female both had
red beaks but I never got the exact ID I only
hope they were both the same subspecies. I
will try to identify Moo-Stasha after she has
her mature plumage. A good source of info
is from the Lexicon of Parrots
I would be interested in seeing a full
picture of this little guy.

Those were nice shots....especially the photo
you named #1....sure does appear young the
way he was squatting on the hand. There
must be a subspecies having juveniles with
more color...LOL Moo Stasha was homely
looking in comparison when young. I also had
her male sibling(both DNA'd) and he was as
plain as she was when he went to his new home
at 5 months old. This Moustache at Tree Top
will be even more stunning I bet in a year
or so.......they really do make awesome
pets!(hint hint LOL)

Ah-ha! A new trip to the bird store reveals
that this lovely lad is about 2 or 3 years
old. I don't know if he was a rescue bird,
or what. But, he's lovely and now I know
more about these guys! (:
