Thanks. Yes, the book-defacing bit of "book altering" was a tough stumbling block for me to get over initially. This must seem pretty shocking from someone who takes enough care to handbind books.

But the bottom line was that the book wasn't being read. Sure, I could have donated it to a library, but in the end, I justify this treatement by ceasing to treat books as sacred. If it's not being read, on a practical level, it really isn't much more than a sheaf of pages with a hard cover, which makes for a great canvas (even better if the book has great illustrations, l ike this one does).

Update: I can only imagine what you must think aboutaltering art!

Thanks! As I mention on my blog, I owe most of the design and inspiration to the workshop instructor, though I did choose the stamps and inks. :-)
