My Spirit of Adventure

Newer Older

Carl Fredricksen reads from his "New Adventure Book" in a beautiful little statue garden in Tokyo Disneyland.

It's just a little fenced off area along a pathway, but I think it captures the spirit of the movie "Up" beautifully (a statue of Russel is there, too, looking on from out of the frame a couple of feet away).

While we were in Japan it took us quite awhile to figure out that "Up" actually has a different name over there (roughly translated as "Grandpa Carl's Flying House," though we also heard several people refer to Carl as "Uncle Carl").

Thank you! (Although I can't take credit for either the sculpture or the movie that inspired it... ;-)).
