Good rainfall in 2007 presented farmers of the Wimmera district with the best sowing conditions in years. Expecting good follow up rain in the spring, farmers invested heavily in planting crops. However, the anticipated rain did not come, resulting in reduced yields and up to thirty percent of crops across the region being cut for hay.
