Patterns of devastation, 2003

Patterns of devastation, 2003 by Museum of Australian Democracy at OPH.
Margie McCLELLAND, born 1948.

Two years of below average rainfall, relentless westerly winds and overstocking have reshaped the Riverina Plain. Fences and stockyards disappear under wind-blown sand dunes and the natural vegetation of saltbush and bluebush varieties succumb over time. More robust native bushes cling on as the shifting sand forms mounds around them.
