Lake Burrumbeet, 2007

Lake Burrumbeet, 2007 by Museum of Australian Democracy at OPH.
Rodney DEKKER, born 1974.

Farmer Max puts a brave face on it in front of a bone dry Lake Burrumbeet. Employees of the Royal Flying Doctor service report that people in the bush are trying to be stoic: ‘People don’t want to be seen not to be coping. They want to be seen to be doing their best in the circumstances. They come in with a minor skin rash, but what they really want to discuss is their depression.’

Ballarat, Victoria.
