The Darling River, 2007

The Darling River, 2007 by Museum of Australian Democracy at OPH.
David CALLOW, born 1958.

Usually, approximately half of the Darling River’s flow is diverted for irrigation. In July 2007, the water allocation for irrigation from the Darling River was cut to zero for the first time in 35 years. State governments have come under fire from environmentalists and farmers for mismanagement of the river and there have been calls for the Commonwealth to take control of it from the states.

Dramatic capture, really leaves little doubt, we are in big trouble.

Help show the plight of the Murray.
