Snow

Snow

From a series I've been working on about powerful women in fairytales. It's taken awhile, but I'm finally really pleased with the way these are turning out.

This is Snow White, after she's defeated the evil witch.

Thanks to the gorgeous Kerri as my model, the talented Elexis Lamar, the make-up artist, and the ever-helpful Robert Carter, who assisted with lighting.

There are two lights here, one grid spot to the left and behind the model, and a large soft box on the model's right. The background is hand drawn, with textures overlaid to give dimension.

Jackie

From a series I've been working on about powerful women in fairytales. It's taken awhile, but I'm finally really pleased with the way these are turning out.

This is a female version of Jack and the Beanstalk, just as she's escaping from the giant's house.

Thanks to Taylor as my model, the talented Elexis Lamar, the make-up artist, and the ever-helpful Robert Carter, who modeled as my giant, in the window.

There are two lights here, both large softboxes, on either side of the model. The background is hand drawn with textures overlaid to give dimension.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel

From a series I've been working on about powerful women in fairytales. It's taken awhile, but I'm finally really pleased with the way these are turning out.

This is Rapunzel, escaping from her tower by her own hair.

Thanks to the gorgeous and patient Taylor as my model, and the talented Elexis Lamar, the make-up artist.

There are two lights here, one soft box above Taylor as a sky light, and another on the left of her as a fill light. The background and hair is drawn by hand, with brushes used to create the clouds.

Good Fairies

Good Fairies

From a series I've been working on about powerful women in fairytales. It's taken awhile, but I'm finally really pleased with the way these are turning out.

These are the good fairies from Sleeping Beauty, represented by Emily, duplicated through photoshop.

Thanks to Emily who not only modeled for me, but provided her own wardrobe and makeup.

There are two lights here, soft boxes on either side of each of Emily's personalities. The three shots were composited in Photoshop, then the background was hand-drawn with textures overlaid to give dimension and an aspect of reality.

Ariel

Ariel

From a series I've been working on about powerful women in fairytales. It's taken awhile, but I'm finally really pleased with the way these are turning out.

This is Ariel from the Little Mermaid, fighting off Ursula, who is represented by the tentacle along the bottom of the frame.

Thanks to the gorgeous Rachel as my model, the talented Elexis Lamar, the make-up artist, and the ever-helpful Robert Carter, who assisted me not only with lighting, but also by waving cardboard off camera to create the dramatic hair.

There are two lights here: One key softbox located camera right with a blue gel on it, and a grid spot located behind the model, camera left, with a purple gel on it. The gels were used to help achieve the underwater feel.

The background, octopus tentacle, and Rachel's tail are drawn by hand, with textures as reference. The shells on her breasts are borrowed, and the trident is home-made from a curtain rod and tin foil.
