Hi - unfortunately not, I did try to find it's name for my description but I also drew a blank (with a Google search).

Thanks. Odd, isn't it? I'll try at the Captain Digby next time I'm over there (it was closed when I was there yesterday), or maybe there's a Thanet Historical Society. I'll let you know if I turn anything up.

Here's a reply I've had from Thanet District Council - it's a folly!

Dear Mr Weller,
Thankyou for your e-mail.
The structure to which you refer are the remains of a folly. The 1st
Lord Holland, Henry Fox, who built (circa 1760) and lived in 'Holland
House', the large white classical building opposite the Captain Digby
pub, had somewhat of a penchant for these things. This was a miniature
of one of Henry VIII forts dating from the late 18th century,
constructed in the shape of a Tudor Rose such as the King did at Walmer
and Deal. Within this 'fort' was a central tower of red brick that was
faced in chalk blocks which stood some 6-7 metres in height. On top of
this stood a statue of Neptune - the Roman god of the sea. There was
also a spurious inscription claiming that the monument had been built in
AD448 by King Vortigern the Arx Ruohim. (Vortigern being the British
King who called in Jutland chieftains Hengist and Horsa to defend
against the Picts, who led the first saxon bands which settled in
England).
The folly is a Grade II listed structure, as are all the other of Lord
Hollands.

I trust this answers your question, but if you would like further
information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

A Emmerson
