I was walking in SoHo (just killing time while waiting for a table at Balthazar) and noticed this cool building so I took a picture. I later found out that this is apparently a famous building that some people call "11 Spring Street" and/or "The Candle Building".
It's a collection of street art and I believe it's been going on for a long time (decades even). But the building was sold and supposed to be made into a residential building - which meant the art would come down. To celebrate the building the owners allowed artists to also put up art inside the building - before everything would be removed. I think everything was supposed to be cleaned off on December 16th, 2006 - but I'm not sure what the status is... I think everything on the outside is still intact. Hopefully it'll stay that way for a while.
