Upper Grassi Lake

Upper Grassi Lake by ocean.flynn.
The crystal clear waters of these petrified coral reefs Grassi Lake ponds provide a perfect reflective surface for the steep face of the east end of Rundle Mountain. The ponds, fed by a thermal sulphur spring from a fault line below, flow into a cascading waterfalls that make the trail icy but stunningly beautiful in the fall. The intense blues and greens of the ancient coral reef contrast with the warm ochre colours of the lichen and the rocks as well as the fall leaves of the poplar trees.
