60 lbs tomatoes
20 pounds of wee watermelons - these are just for eating.
25 lbs carrots
20 lbs onions
40 lbs tomatillos
40 lbs peaches
10 heads garlic
20 lbs cukes hiding back here
TWO POUNDS basil, and to that I just say...hells YES.
1 lb dill
"a little bit of peach jam," huh???
What the heck will you do with all these?
I want dilly carrots. I think 25 lbs was the smallest bag. Christmas gifts, anyone?
I am also planning to:
a) shred for freezer for winter baking
b) slice, blanch & freeze in bags
c) have been curious to try carrot jam - weird as that sounds
d) juice, then freeze juice in cubes for smoothies and pulp in bags, primarily for soups - possibly baking.
and butter! don't forget the peach butter!
I will accept your offer of christmas carrots.

Me + Danielle = Crazy

And I mean that in the best possible way. Who else would start from "I think I'd like to make a little peach jam." and end up with "Let's spend ALL DAY over a holiday weekend working our asses off in the kitchen pickling and canning and jam-making with aprox 150 lbs of produce."?

This makes perfect sense to me. My extended family and I will be embarking on the 25th (?) annual Tomato Soup Canning Weekend ourselves.

Have fun! No burns or cuts in the process!

Answer: Lots!!
Yes! Pls to organize??
Right? Kellee feeds my crazy. Or vice versa?
I believe there are 3 bottles of pinot grigio already chilling.

How many stoves do you have? Haha, this is scaring me. I say this as a woman who has two.

I plan to make a crapload of caramelized onion and garlic jam and a lot of pesto this weekend and that might be it.

60 lbs. of tomatoes. That is just breathtaking.

Oh, shit, now you're scaring me! According to Kellee, there will be a turkey fryer involved. (I'm just following her ... wherever it takes me!!)

In my own defense, D has a glass top stove, so only seems safe for full day of canning to bring turkey-fryer set up. Also will keep house cooler? Yeah, that's it...

Also - HOMEMADE cheese to go with the wine. Just saying.

OH! Tomato SOUP! You are brilliant, thanks for the idea!

Sigh. It was the max they would let me order. We will definitely need more, but it will have to be from....dare I say it...the grocery store.....

Oh sure, you say that NOW, but come January when we have the only yummy tomatoes in town.....

Yeah, I did 20 lbs on one of those days it was 80 million degrees here and I thought I might die. Thankfully, a) nicer temps now and b) D has blessed central A\C.

I wish I lived closer - I'd do just about anything to be in on this. (despite the fact that your kitchen is small...) Srsly though, just about anything. (and not just cause I'd love to be in your collective company, though that certainly is reason alone to make the trek...)
