Joe Nickell has been called a “modern
day Sherlock Holmes” and the “real-life
Scully (from the X-Files). He is a
paranormal and forensic investigator of
mysteries, myths and hoaxes. He
approaches every investigation with an
open and rational mind. He is the
world's only full-time professional
paranormal investigator and a frequent
writer for Skeptical Inquirer, as well
as an established author and senior
fellow at the Center for Skeptical
Inquiry.
This presentation was given at The
Putnam Museum, in Davenport, Iowa, in
conjunction with their “The Science of
Ghost Hunting” exhibit. Joe explained
that most ghost hunting, in his
experience, employs pseudoscience, and
he will explore why we are susceptible
to being fooled by our own senses when
we come across something “unexplained”.
