Gorillapod and LX2 - Just hangin'

Gorillapod and LX2 - Just hangin' by neeedoo.
Ok, I was skeptical when I first saw these. But when I started seeing them pop up all over the place here on Flickr and in stores I had to try one out. I stopped off at Henry's to pick one up after dinner. When I got home I unpacked it and then proceeded to wrap it around everything I could think of around the house. I even wrapped it around Kaitlyn but she didn't like that too much. I gotta say, it's probably the most fun you can have with a tripod. Even if you're not taking pictures. lol

The Gorillapod is made of lightweight plastic. It has soft rubber ribs and feet to give it traction on just about anything. The quality this little tripod is quite good and the joints are very stiff. One really nice feature is the quick release that has a locking mechanism to prevent accidental detachment.

Because the Gorillapod is made of lightweight plastic I noticed that the camera bounces around a little after being touched. A bit of practice and using the self timer allows the bouncing to stop before the shutter is tripped.

I love this thing!

Look what I found: flickr.com/groups/gorillasutra/

You should add it. It's a group for gorillapods as the subject.

Well, I'm happy to report that the Gorillapod is still going strong. It's so compact that I leave it in my bag all the time. When I do find I need a tripod, it's always ready. I find it handy to just leave the quick release plate attached to the camera all the time now so when I do need to use the tripod it's just a matter of snapping it together.
I was a little concerned that the leg joints would become loose after a while but so far they are holding up quite well and are still nice and stiff.

4 months and still having fun with it.

Yeah I have one of these that I bought off a guy in the street in NYC for about 15.00 USD.

I use it a lot more than my conventional small tripod. storage is great I just wrap it around a belt loop or two when not in use.
