Removing animals out of thier natural habitat, manipulating them in unnatural ways so that we can have one nice shot IS cruelty to animals.

Gotta admit, the fish set against the emerald backdrop of the lagoon looks cool, but I feel obligated to reiterate what some guys here has already said... this is just cruel man, it appears that you stressed the poor creature into bloating itself then kept it out of water for a prolonged period of time. Yeah, I know you let it eventually go, but lets not kid ourselves here... you couldn't have possibly take a decent shot in a timespan of 60 seconds or less which could've still caused the fish a great deal of harm. I don't know if the fish survived or not but I can be darn sure that it suffered because of your photographic endeavors. No creature should endure misery for our amusement. Period.

well i dont. but i snorkell a lot. and yes, i know i might not have seen everything u guys see deep underwater.
but im a fishermans son. and i love the sea and everything in it . and i wouldnt hurt anything on purpose.

i got so many diving friends who could do that to me :) and im going to invest in an underwater casing for my lil camera. and hopefully then i can get some good ones underwater .eh ? :)

by the way .. are you guys vegan or something ?
im not trying to offend u guys or anything, i just personally. dont know any maldivian vegans.

LOL, now where did you get that ridiculous idea? No, we are not vegans but we share amongst us, an unconditional love and respect for nature and we simply abhor the site of a poor defenseless creature suffering needlessly for the vanity of man - no matter how beautiful its torture appears to be.

And yes, if you must know, we do barbeque fish occassionally. Now before you call us hypocrites, consider this. I personally appealed to your better judgment not to harm animals in a vague attempt to entertain and amuse (take a look at what I said originally). I said nothing about eating them. We are after all omnivorous animals! (For those of you who are squeamish about being categorized into animals... do you guys think that the biological kindgom is divided into 3 groups? Animalia, Vegetabilia and Humania!?!). What I am trying to say that it is in our nature to consume other animals, but mistreating them is not and it goes against our supposed superior intellect, which I am sure nobody here can deny.

Now this is turning into a full on rant. Dude, invest in that camera casing and take the plunge already. Ciao.
