Use a yarn you like, although I think a rather thin one makes the best
result.
Needle size depends on which yarn you are using. If you are in doubt,
go down one size for a tight fabric.
The flower in the photo is made in fine one strand alpaca ("Du
store alpakka"), on 2,5 mm needles.
Pattern:
Cast on 12.
Row 1: Slip 1, knit 11.
Row 2: Slip 1, purl 11.
Row 3: Slip1,*knit 1, yo*
Row 4: Slip 1, purl.
Continue in stockinette, slipping the first stitch on every row. When
the petal is 60% of desired length, bind off 2 in each side every
other row.
Knit 5 more petals or as many as you want.
Sew together in the middle. Decorate with a button, some beads or what
you like.

Hi, i have been waiting to knit this for months and have just bought some lovely one strand alpaca, but am a very new knitter and am already a bit confused. On row 3, do i do the 'yarn over' thing on every other stitch? When i continue in stockinette after row 4 do i do the 'yarn over' thing evey third row, or every row, or not at all? sorry, love the pattern but still a novice!

mabeyk, *knit 1, yo* means, do what it says between the stars and repeat until the end of the row.
After that you knit stockinette, no more increases.
