Julbord - preparations almost finished

Julbord - preparations almost finished

We had my mother and brother as guests for our Christmas lunch. Our daughters had prepared almost all the food, and it was a lot, all very delicious.
Here K is giving the smorgasbord its final touch before the hungry eaters approach the table.

Julbord - helping yourself to the cold food

Julbord - helping yourself to the cold food

The ritual of the smorgasbord starts with the cold and soursalty pickled herrings and other kinds of fishes and beetroots and liver paté and jellied meatstuffs, crispbread and cheese. After that more cold meats, of which of course the salted and ovenbaked ham is the most important.

Julbord - helping yourself to the warm food

After the cold dishes the smorgasbord eaters continue to the warm dishes, e.g. meatballs, anchovy-stuffed potato gratin (Jansson's frestelse), short, lightly smoked sausages (prinskorv) etc.

Christmas Decorations - November 30/30

Christmas Decorations - November 30/30

The last day of November - I took a walk waiting for my train going home from the conference. Someone told me about the fabulous Christmas Decorations of the central square Sergels Torg. A lot of people beside me were taking pictures and going "Aaaah" and "Ooooh" over the trees and reindeer. I am a person who usually likes sparkly decorations and lights for Christmas, but no, this was too much, too gaudy.

This was the end of this year's November Challenge. It feels good to finish it off with a picture from Stockholm.

I know I missed out on a couple of days. I'm sorry about that, but I have been pretty busy and travelled some.
