Photograph of U.S. Army Air Forces mechanic and gunner Thomas T. Suddreth of Raeford, N.C., standing on a platform ladder at the right vertical fin and rudder of one of a North American B-25 Mitchell belonging to the 345th Bombardment Group (nicknamed the “Air Apaches”), 5th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Forces. Suddreth is pictured wearing a sleeveless shirt, standing on the platform at the top of the ladder, while he was performing maintenance on the airplane during World War II. The “Air Apaches” logo is seen painted on the fin and rudder [1940s].
