This sketch was hilarious and didn't dumb it down for the 14-year-old boys who are SNL's most loyal audience. But then again, you probably already lost them by putting Jon Hamm on as your host. Friendless, queer 14-year-old boys who love Mad Men also know who James Mason is.

One of the writers told me in the dress rehearsal, Jon played Dean Martin and switched it up right before air... had never rehearsed it as James Mason.

Norma Desmond should be in more sketches in general... referenced constantly. Here's Sarah Burns channeling her in the "My Wife, the Ghost" Reunion Special.

Of course, when it comes to Vincent Price, nothing tops the real thing.
