State terrorism in Sri Lanka is ignored by the international community

State terrorism in Sri Lanka is ignored by the international community by noaman.
And it really is.

(July 24, 2006: Memorial to commemorate Black July, 1983 -- where the Sri Lankan government and Sinhalese ethnic nationalists massacred thousands of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The massacres continue to this day, and so this was also a rally of defiance and protest.)

LTTE seizes staff says UN

UN says it fear for the safety of the UN staff member and his family
The United Nations has accused Tamil Tiger rebels of forcibly recruiting a UN member of staff along with three members of his family.
The UN staff member's sixteen year old daughter is among those recruited by the LTTE, the UN said.

It was not clear what work the rebels expected the group to do.

In a statement, the UN said it feared for the safety of the four individuals who were seized over the weekend.

This is the second such reported incident.

The United Nations accused the LTTE of forcibly recruiting one of its staff members on 16 February.

It said fifteen members of the UN staff and 75 of their dependents including children and women are among those prevented leaving the war zone by the LTTE.

The Sri Lankan staff member recruited in February has yet to be released, the UN said.
