Broken Bone - done today

This bone is supposed to be straight and line up with the other one. She BENT it! How does a little girl BEND her bone and not break it?

Ok here is the story:

Ry fell the Sunday after the 4th (July 8th?) at the cabin onto hardwood floors. She was climbing on a chair and fell off the side and landed on her arm (I think I wasn't there to see her fall). She cried about her arm but then was using it, bending it, and didn't complain.

It never bothered her again after that day except when I put her in the carseat and grabbed her arm right on her wrist to get the strap. She would say "Ow mom, that hurts". No tears, just a little ow.

Well today she fell at daycare outside and landed on her arm. Daycare called and asked if she had hurt it before, thinking that the trip she took outside could not have caused that much pain. I told her about the fall at the cabin and she had never noticed it. She said that she is using it but is favoring it a little. I called and got a Dr appt just to have it checked out (which I have been thinking the last few days anyways since her arm hurt still).

So pick Ry up, she's happy as a clam. No favoring, moving it, she ate with her arm. You could tell a little bit that she wouldn't always move it, like when she walked and stuff. So off to the doctor, happy - not even a complaint about it.

Sure shit, Doctor walks in the room, takes 1 look at it and says "YEP! It's Broke". Talk about winning MOM of the YEAR!

Had Xrays, got a splint. Not 1 tear shed, except for the hissy fit she threw when trying to get her to stand on the scale - typical girl!

It turns out that she did break the 1 bone TODAY. The other bone was bent when she originally fell at the cabin on the 8th. I have a suspicion that she had a hairline fracture from the original fall and the trip today just finished the deal.

AND - since the one bone it bent, they can't just cast it because then it won't grow straight and cause her all sorts of issues later. We have to go see a Orthopedic Surgeon on Monday to A.) get a splint B.) get a cast or C.) find out how to fix it.

I just hope they don't have to finish breaking the one bone in order to get it to go straight. Guess there will be no gymnastics this Fall!

Congratulations! You described the story fantastic! But how's she doing with the cast? Did you find out how to fix it? I hope she will be ok and I send to all my best get well soon wishes...=)

We go in on Monday to the Ortho to find out what they have to do. For now she has a splint type support and it doesn't even phase her.
