Photograph of a Canadian battalion going 'over the top during World War I. Ten or so soldiers scramble out of their trench. All are wearing protective hats (except one wearing a flat hat, who is perhaps their commander), and all carry bayonet rifles. They go to face the enemy, out into no-man's-land.
It is unlikely that these soldiers were actually about to launch an attack. As these are propaganda photographs, we must remember that a lot would have been staged.
