Bollards

Newer Older

Thought that we might revisit this interesting Dublin street corner, as these ornate ironwork bollards weren't so clear in this photo. They're lovely, and as swordscookie pointed out, they have holes in them "as though they were vents for something below ground". Any further information would be greatly appreciated!

For any of you thinking this is a load of bollards, this is also a great street shot. We're getting a much better view of the sculptural features of the Parnell Monument, including the oddly hyphenated provinces of Ireland: UL-STER, CON-NACHT, LEIN-STER, MUN-STER. There's the No. 8 bus on its way to Dalkey, passing by Forte's Cafe, a Dublin institution, and a cute but overloaded Fiat car complete with L plate, plus a snapshot of Dublin fashion in the Spring or summer of 1969. We don't have a more precise date for this photo, but wondering if those election(?) posters on the lamp post could help us...

Date: June/July 1969

Sorry, I do know where he pinched two of the other photos from, as they show up as his 'favourites', in his profile!
I don't think he understands the rules of Flickr!?

At the heels of this hunt, surely the most important question is "who's that girl?".
