  • The famous Lemon's sweets shop in O'Connell Street, been there since the mid-19th century. Sadly Lemon's in Dublin closed 1984 but the brandname was bought by Roberts Roberts Ltd (Dublin 24) who in conjunction with Wilton Sweets relaunched some of the old Lemon's brands (now made in Ireland) since 2007. Between 1984 and 2007 Lemon's sweets were made abroad and imported.

O'Connell Street, Dublin

Newer Older

Photographer Richard Tilbrook captured a fine array of pedestrians in this shot - "ordinary" women; a nun; a schoolboy; a window cleaner; and a cyclist. Also in evidence is the haphazard parking down the middle of O'Connell Street that would give a modern traffic warden pause for thought.

Signage for the Confectioner's Hall (second frontage from the left) is still there today, and think that may be Cafolla's Italian Chippers next door...
